What is Xplore!
Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is a hands-on science attraction in Wrexham city centre, with more than 85 interactive exhibits for families to explore together. Formerly Techniquest Glyndŵr, Xplore! is all about curiosity, play and discovering how science works in everyday life.
Visitor FAQs
The easiest way to visit Xplore! is to book your tickets online before you arrive.
We do sell tickets at reception, but booking ahead is the best way to secure your visit and avoid disappointment, especially during busy periods.
If you already have an Annual Pass, please book your visit online and enter your reference number at the payment stage.
Please remember to bring your Annual Pass with you on the day of your visit.

We do! Visitors with disabilities (paying full adult/child admission charge) may admit one accompanying carer* free of charge. If more than one carer is required, please let us know. Please bring relevant proof of entitlement. For example, an agency ID card, DLA/PIP letter or book (issued by DWP office) or Blue Badge.
*Please note, to qualify as an accompanying carer at Xplore!, you must be aged 16 years or over
Xplore! is designed for curious minds of different ages, with more than 85 hands-on exhibits for families to explore together. Younger children may need more adult support, while older children can get stuck into the challenges more independently.
Yes, if your child needs a break during their visit, please let a staff member know, and we will do our best to accommodate you if space is available.
Yes, all visitors, including adults, need a valid ticket.
Yes, Xplore! charges an admission fee to use the exhibits. Admission is valid for the full session and you are free to come and go as you please. The admission price includes our science show which changes throughout the year so no two visits to Xplore! are ever the same. We recommend our annual pass for those looking for the best value.
Xplore! is a charity that generates an income from entrance fees, school trip admission, grants and sponsorship to meet our charitable aims and objectives. Your entrance fee will enable us to reach out to children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to access our centre, and we’re extremely grateful for all additional donations that visitors may be able to give.

Booking online requires card payments. Visitors purchasing a ticket in-centre are welcome to pay by card or cash. We accept payment by cash, personal cheque (up to the value of your banker’s card), Visa and MasterCard within our café and gift shop.
Xplore! is located at 17 Henblas Street, Wrexham, LL13 8AE. We have two entrances with one on the Henblas Street side and one on the Chester street side, just across the road from Tŷ Pawb and is right in the heart of Wrexham.
On Mondays to Thursdays we have reduced opening hours (due to hosting school groups). Please call on 01978 293400 to double check the opening times before your visit.
On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and all Wrexham school holidays the centre is open from 9.30-4.30.
As well as our exhibition space our science shop and cafe are both open 7 days a week from 9.30-4:30
From visitor survey’s the average visitor spends between 2 hours and 3 hours with us but you are welcome to stay as long as you would like and your ticket allows you to come and go throughout the day. Your visit to Xplore! also includes a live science show as part of your entry price, make sure to factor this in to your visit.
We have an on-site café offering a selection of sandwiches, cakes, drinks, snacks as well as delicious freshly made pizzas. We cater for as many different dietary requirements as possible and if you are unsure, our staff will be more than happy to check the ingredients.
Our café is located within the centre and provides a viewing area for those wishing to rest their legs whilst being able to keep an eye on their little ones.
Yes, we are commited to making the centre as accessible as possible.
- Xplore! has level access using both main entrance doors.
- A hearing loop around our entrance and reception areas.
- Our café and Science Shop are open to members of the public as well as Xplore! Visitors
- The exhibition area has exhibits of varying heights and actions, please ask a member of staff if you need any assistance.
- We have a low light area, theatre and two workshop rooms.
- We have a wheelchair and buggy park, visitor lockers and a picnic area for our visitors to use.
- We have male and female toilets as well as two gender-neutral and accessible toilets plus baby changing facilities.
- We welcome assistance dogs.
- Xplore! recognises the sunflower lanyard scheme and many of our staff have received dementia friends training from Alzheimer’s Society and autism awareness training from the National Autistic Society.
- Fully accessible changing places facility for adults and children.

Yes! Our annual membership scheme offers visitors 12 months of unlimited admission for less than the price of four individual visits. If you plan to visit us at least four times in the year, this is the cheapest way to pay. Members receive a 10% discount in our shop and additional benefits such as discounts on special events.
Children aged 14 or under must be accompanied by an adult throughout their visit.
Young people aged 15 to 17 can visit without an adult, but we will need an emergency contact.
For safety and safeguarding reasons, we cannot admit a child aged 14 or under unless they are with a responsible adult aged 18 or over. This rule is strictly followed.
All lost property is handed in at reception.
If you are still at Xplore!, please speak to the reception team before you leave. If you have already gone home, please call us on 01978 293400 and we’ll check whether your item has been found.
Yes. There are several car parks within a short walk of Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.

Planetarium FAQs
The Xplore! Planetarium is a fixed-dome planetarium at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre in Wrexham.
Visitors sit in cinema-style seats inside the dome while images are projected around them, creating an immersive journey through space, stars, planets and astronomy.
A planetarium is a dome-shaped space where images of the night sky, planets and space are projected around you.
Instead of watching a flat screen in front of you, you look up and around as if you are surrounded by the stars. It is a visual, immersive way to explore astronomy and space.
The planetarium is a seated dome experience with cinema-style seating. During the session, images are projected around the inside of the dome, so you can look up and around as the show takes you through space and astronomy.
The experience includes darkness, sound, moving images and changes in light.
The planetarium has two wheelchair spaces available.
If you or someone in your group needs a wheelchair space or has any access requirements, please let a member of staff know on the day of your visit so we can ensure that you have access.
Yes! Your General Admission now includes a visit to the Planetarium. Shows are on a first-come, first-served basis and are shown regularly throughout the day.
