24 different churches were welcomed for an evening showcasing the activities and content that has been developed over the course of the Xplore! goes to church project.

The project began life with Xplore! and St Marks Church in Caia Park teaming up to provide opportunities for 4- to 11-year-olds to get involved with some interactive science and faith-based activities. Since the project began during the lockdown in 2020, with the support of the organisation ECLAS (Equipping Christian Leaders in an Age of Science) the project has grown to include 29 churches spread across North Wales and Northeast of England.

The attendees of the evening had an opportunity to investigate 4 different sets of activities and the theming that has been developed around them. There was a chance to learn whilst taking part in the activities themselves as they were able to extract DNA, experiment with circuits, explore the constellations of the night sky and much more.

Clair Griffiths, the Community Outreach and Fundraising Co-ordinator said “This project has a special place in my heart as I have helped it to grow from a chance encounter with members of St Marks Church into a project that is only getting bigger”

We hope to be able to engage with 26 other churches in the coming months and we look forward to seeing how the relationships that have been built because of this project grow over the coming years”

Angela an attendee from Gwersyllt Congregational Church said “Thank you again for the Xplore! goes to Church project, including the treasure trove of goodies. I am looking forward to sharing it with the other leaders and children at GCC.”

If this is something that you or your church would like to be involved in there is another showcase on the 25th of January 2023. To book your place please call 01978 293400 or email projects@xplorescience.co.uk
