Xplore! Nature

In 2023 Xplore! extended our education programme to include an incredible forest school site based at the Wrexham University campus at Northop.

Xplore! Nature is an inclusive and engaging space where Xplore!’s award winning science engagement meets the world of forest school provision.

The space covers 95 acres and is a wonderful mix of deciduous old growth trees, intriguing paths, and amazing adventures.

The site has a rich history having been in constant use for over a thousand years from a world war 2 prisoner of war camp, to a norman castle; and now Xplore! Nature is the next step in the sites’ incredible history.

We have crafted a variety of outdoor learning activities facilitating knowledge-gathering and social development helping visitors of all ages to build a connection with the world around us.

Site features

The site is made up of two parts;

1. The top site has a firepit and seating.  It has wheelchair friendly matting and graded paths for increased accessibility.
2. The lower area is in the heart of our forest site, set in over 5 acres of forestry with a firepit, wood turning equipment and toilets facilities.
