Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is delighted to announce that it has officially appointed Momentum Build, part of the Momentum Group, based in Liverpool, as the building company for its major expansion project, Xplore! 2.0, with construction work for Phase One commencing on the 5th of January 2026.  

Following multiple meetings and extensive project planning, Xplore! is confident it has found the perfect partner to deliver this ambitious transformation. Momentum Group has worked closely with the Xplore! team to fully understand the vision, purpose and practical requirements of the project, ensuring a shared approach from the outset. 

Momentum Build has been appointed to deliver Phase One and Two of the refurbishments, Phase One will include Xplore!’s Planetarium, as well as associated lift and kitchen installations. The tender covers the full procurement and delivery of building and refurbishment services for the fixed Planetarium. Once completed, it will become the only fixed-dome planetarium in Northeast Wales, marking a major enhancement to science education in the region.

The appointment of Momentum Build marks a significant milestone for Xplore! 2.0. Phase One of the refurbishment will enhance the visitor experience, improve accessibility, and expand educational opportunities. The project reflects Xplore!’s commitment to inspiring curiosity and learning in science for schools, families, and the wider community, while ensuring the facility remains a state-of-the-art destination for North Wales.
