Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) Launches an interactive exhibit at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre

Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is proud to announce a new collaboration with Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) as they unveil an exciting new exhibit, launching early 2026. This hands-on exhibit aims to inspire visitors of all ages to explore the world of health, care and wellbeing careers in Wales.

The exhibit was co-created by HEIW, local healthcare science professionals, and exhibit fabricators Whitefire, bringing healthcare science to life through a range of engaging, hands-on experiences. Visitors can explore the essential work of healthcare science professionals in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating patients across a variety of specialisms. Guests will also have the opportunity to interact with real NHS staff from across north Wales and connect their experiences at Xplore! with more detailed career information on the HEIW website—encouraging young visitors to continue their discovery long after they leave.

“It has been a joy to partner with Xplore! and the healthcare science professionals across North Wales to work together in bringing these essential services to life for local children and families. The developments underway to expand the Wrexham centre enabled this unique partnership, both with HEIW and with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, and we look forward to this continuing into the future for the benefit of North Wales.” Said Dr Sarah Bant, Associate Director of Workforce Transformation, Health Education and Improvement Wales.

The exhibit is a part of HEIW’s ongoing commitment to promote and support future health and care workforces across Wales. Through innovative outreach and community engagement, they aim to spark curiosity and help young people consider how they could make a difference in these rewarding NHS fields.

“We are thrilled to be working with HEIW to bring this new exhibit to life. This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to connect science, education and real work career inspirations in an engaging and accessible way” said Katie Williams, Business and Development Officer at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.

The installation of the exhibit marks an exciting milestone in this collaboration, bringing together education, science, and real-world NHS experience in a way that is both fun and inspiring. As visitors explore the interactive displays and meet healthcare professionals, they will gain a deeper understanding of the variety of roles within the NHS and the impact these careers have on communities across Wales.

By sparking curiosity and encouraging young people to envision themselves in healthcare science, this exhibit supports HEIW’s mission to build a skilled, future-ready workforce. With its launch in early 2026, the exhibit promises to be a lasting resource for students, families, and educators, demonstrating how science, learning, and real-world careers can come together to inspire the next generation.
