Learners will use their scientific knowledge of forces and materials to sort toys into different categories. 

Discover what are push and pull forces and how they can be used to play with a variety of different toys.

Then our presenter and learners will discuss possible ways of categorising their toys, e.g., by colour, force or shapes.

Some toys might have more than one possible category and therefore the group must decide which is the best box.

Learning objectives

Using scientific knowledge to sort toys into different categories.
Use reasoning and experience to work out how the items work to be able to sort.
Identify and different materials as a basis for sorting, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard for particular uses.
