Principality renew partnership with Xplore! to teach more children vital money skills

Principality Building Society has renewed their partnership with science discovery centre Xplore! to bring financial education to more children across North Wales and bordering regions.

The partnership will see Xplore! and Wales’ largest building society join forces to bring an interactive financial education workshop to 1,500 children in North Wales and the borders this year. The workshops will teach key financial skills such as identifying money, costing and learning how to save.

The renewal follows the success of the Principality’s savings school programme launched in Autumn 2019, which saw over 400 children aged 5-7 benefit from invaluable financial education lessons in the classroom.

The Society and Xplore! will deliver the workshops in line with government guidelines, bringing the workshops into classrooms when allowed.

David Critcher, North Regional Manager, Principality Building Society said:

“We’re committed to ensuring children across Wales have access to financial education, so we’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Xplore!. Reaching more young children will continue to close the gaps in financial literacy throughout North Wales and the bordering regions which is really important to us as a building society. The bespoke workshop delivered in partnership with Xplore! provides children with vital money management and numeracy skills, preparing children to prosper throughout their future.”

Katie Williams, Business Development and Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Xplore! said:

“We're really excited that Principality are continuing their partnership with Xplore! for another year.  The fun and interactive savings school workshop went down really well with the children and to roll it out across the region means that even greater numbers of children will benefit. The support shown by Principality and its branch staff is incredible, not only in terms of the funding to enable free access to these workshops, but through their flexibility and support to a local educational charity throughout the pandemic.”

Schools wishing to register their interest for the free savings school workshop for the new term in September can contact bookings@xplorescience.co.uk.
